The Scottish struggle for independence, popularized most recently by Braveheart, is the setting for Highland Warriors. Players can command the English -- and their strong economy -- or three Scottish clans: the MacKay clan (magic users), the MacDonald clan (merchants), or the Cameron clan (warriors). The Highland Warriors battle system incorporates the time-honored RTS conventions of resource gathering, heroes (William Wallace and Robert the Bruce are here), and unit specialization. Other features include seasonal changes that affect strategy -- winter will force players to avoid mountain passes and find new sources of food -- and an experience system that allows units to gain additional powers as they level up.
The four campaigns include 30+ missions while the multiplayer features support up to eight players over a LAN or the Internet. An included editor gives players the ability to construct their own maps and scenarios.
From the Manufacturer: In the year of our lord 843, the first king of Scotland, Kenneth McAlpin, united the lands of the Picts and Scots to form the Kingdom of Alba. 400 years later Edward I, also known as the "Hammer of the Scots" engulfed the land in a great feud. It was not long before Edward I controlled most of Scotland. The Scots, led by William Wallace and Robert the Bruce, are left to fight what seems to be a futile war for freedom. This is the time when legends are born.

But North of Nottingham, in the heart of Sherwood Forest, one man refuses to give in to the Normans. This rebel, an outstanding archer, calls himself Robin Hood.
