About this item

Developed by: Soft Enterprises GmbH - Data Becker Corporation (2003) - 3D Real-Time Strategy - Rated: Teen

The Scottish struggle for independence, popularized most recently by Braveheart, is the setting for Highland Warriors. Players can command the English -- and their strong economy -- or three Scottish clans: the MacKay clan (magic users), the MacDonald clan (merchants), or the Cameron clan (warriors). The Highland Warriors battle system incorporates the time-honored RTS conventions of resource gathering, heroes (William Wallace and Robert the Bruce are here), and unit specialization. Other features include seasonal changes that affect strategy -- winter will force players to avoid mountain passes and find new sources of food -- and an experience system that allows units to gain additional powers as they level up.

The four campaigns include 30+ missions while the multiplayer features support up to eight players over a LAN or the Internet. An included editor gives players the ability to construct their own maps and scenarios.

From the Manufacturer: In the year of our lord 843, the first king of Scotland, Kenneth McAlpin, united the lands of the Picts and Scots to form the Kingdom of Alba. 400 years later Edward I, also known as the "Hammer of the Scots" engulfed the land in a great feud. It was not long before Edward I controlled most of Scotland. The Scots, led by William Wallace and Robert the Bruce, are left to fight what seems to be a futile war for freedom. This is the time when legends are born.

Robin Hood, Maid Marion, Friar Tuck, and Little John join forces when Robin of Locksley returns from his foreign adventures. With Richard the Lionhearted fighting in the Crusades, England suffers under the cruel hands of the evil Prince John. Robin and his friends will scurry around Sherwood Forest, Nottingham Castle, York, Leicester, Derby, and Lincoln as they harass the Prince's
guards and evade his powerful armored knights. An intuitive interface helps players learn the combat system quickly, and everyone can practice skills at the outlaws' training camp. Shrewd players will design strategies to foil Prince John's men by utilizing the many weapons and tactics available.

From the Manufacturer: England, late 12th century. King Richard the Lion-Hearted, back from the Crusades, has been taken prisoner at Durensteien Castle in Austria. His chances of escaping are slim; his ransom, exorbitant. In his absence, his brother, Prince John, has taken over the throne with the help of some powerful Norman barons.

Extortion, racketeering, taxation of all sorts, and the proclamation of unjust laws have become par for the course. The people of England are bending to the will of these unscrupulous individuals. But North of Nottingham, in the heart of Sherwood Forest, one man refuses to give in to the Normans. This rebel, an outstanding archer, calls himself Robin Hood.

Special Features: A famous story with an hazardous twist, Robin Hood The Legend of Sherwood display all the famous characters described with accuracy and realism, from Little Johns jubilant laugh to Lady Marians soft kind behaviour. And historical locations such as Sherwood Forest and Nottingham Castle are brought to life with a detailed realism that brings the legend to life.
Three different types of mission are Robbery and Infiltration, Castle Attack and Ambush. Real characters with particular abilities and attributes.
